We’re proud to announce the talented Joel Sampson has joined our Siren Design Melbourne team as Design Director.
Joel brings a wealth of global experience, having worked in large commercial architecture firms for the past 18 years, with experience in Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, and Shanghai for a range of clients including Apple, Qantas, Credit Suisse, Macquarie Group and Lendlease to name a few.
According to Joel:
‘Siren has always been on my radar, with many peers joining or collaborating with the firm, and everyone consistently praises the people at Siren as the best and most welcoming in the industry. Curious to see if this was true, I joined, and I’ve been truly overwhelmed by the warmth and friendliness of the team!’
Nicole Pollak, Managing Director Australia and Co-Founder Siren Design Melbourne says: ‘Joel is renowned as a passionate and charismatic designer driven by a design ethos grounded in the belief that every project is unique: no two clients are the same, so each design response should be distinct. He’s the perfect fit for Siren as his values and his design philosophy match ours completely. I know he will be a vibrant and dynamic member of our team and I can’t wait to see what we can all create together.’
‘I was attracted to Siren because they have such a human touch to everything, which I really like. It’s not cold. There’s a face to it,’ says Joel.
‘I love design, but not just design for design’s sake, but having a reason behind it. I feel strongly about the connection piece with the client. I don’t want to just design something beautiful because the client wants something beautiful. I want a reason behind it. As silly as it sounds, I really believe design can change the world.’
Joel has a strong interest in regenerative design and he has unlocked numerous opportunities for clients to achieve remarkable sustainable outcomes.
Added to this, Joel has travelled the world extensively with his career, exposing him to different cultures, different approaches to design and vastly different design aesthetics. As a guy from a small country town in Queensland, Australia, this diverse viewpoint of the world, along with his openness to trying new ideas is one of the things Joel prides himself on.
