Driven by the brand concept, ‘here to move you’ the workplace design of Toyota Finance Australia’s (TFA) new head office in Sydney evokes a sense of movement and play.
.
Best known as a leading global automotive business, Toyota has its origins in the Japanese weaving industry when Sakichi Toyoda invented the world’s first automatic loom and, subsequently, set up the Toyoda Spinning and Weaving Company in 1918.
This origin story creates an important historical context for workplace design for TFA, with the use of textiles, historical artefacts and a dynamic history wall forming a central element of the space.
The design was anchored in TFA’s brand story and the tagline ‘here to move you’. This concept represents the idea of movement in both the physical and emotional sense. Motion changes emotions and movement creates an effect.
To express this, the space is defined by a creative use of colour, light and movement through an array of elements including a metallic ripple ceiling, light installations and a dynamic flow through the spaces. The materials and palette are innovative and vibrant.
Grosvenor Place is blessed with stunning views of Sydney’s Opera House and harbour and the staff are central to the design, with the best harbour views accessible to all members of the team.
Health and wellbeing are also central to the design with the creation of wellness space that is adaptable and calming.
Motion creates experiences to grow, and TFA’s new space is the physical manifestation of that.
